AN ABSOLUTE WORLD FIRST*:
THE FIRST TRULY GENUINE COFFEE FROM LA GOMERA

*(normally we don’t brag, but sometimes you just have to)

From the coffee tree to the cup, our coffee is grown on La Gomera, the magical island on the edge of Europe: an explosion of smooth yet wild, volcanic flavor in your cup.

Together with the island’s farmers, we grow young plants from the seeds of our oldest and best coffee plants in their nurseries, which we donate to our partner farms on La Gomera, along with the know-how of what needs to happen afterwards. In this way, a network of farmers is growing on the island who are working together to develop a new, sustainable, high-quality coffee culture and at the same time make dry land usable for agriculture again.

It goes without saying that these coffee cherries are then picked by hand. Not only because of the quality (only the red ones go into the basket), but also because most of the growing areas are completely inaccessible to machines of any kind.

The hand-picked cherries are dried and peeled in our processing plants and refined into this wonderfully rich coffee flavor in La Gomera’s first and only roasting plant in Alajeró. As certified coffee sorters and award-winning roasters with many years of experience, we guarantee the quality of the entire process.

And all of this can be found in your cup: A Cup of Happiness.

HISTORY RETURNS:
COFFEE ON LA GOMERA

We have been around in Germany for many decades: Langen-Kaffee and moxxa caffè, both coffee roasting companies that stand for craftsmanship, skill and knowledge and have received multiple awards for their quality. We work with experienced and quality-oriented coffee growers from all over the world and offer them a bridge to interested and reliable customers for their laborious work behind the horizon: You. Because that’s how it is: life beyond the horizon depends on the contents of your cup.

On our first visit to La Gomera, we were amazed to find coffee plants growing wild along the roads: Apparently there had been a culture of coffee cultivation on the island in the past. Seven years ago (because significant developments take at least that long), this insight gave rise to the “Café de La Gomera” project: to restart and promote coffee cultivation on the island and to develop and support cultivation and harvesting.

CAFE DE LA GOMERA: THE FINCAS

“Café de La Gomera” is a joint project between coffee farmers who were initially hesitant but then convinced, and us as coffee refiners with decades of experience.

Together, we have built up a valuable, sustainable, future-oriented agricultural enterprise that contributes to the economic existence of all those involved and, with the production of this special coffee, represents something completely unique for the Canary Islands. As a side effect, areas that were previously inaccessible and otherwise fallow are being worked and used again. Our farmers are doing real pioneering work, because until now coffee cultivation in this way was hardly known on La Gomera and the Canary Islands (and that means: in Europe!). Our coffee cooperative now includes farms in Pastrana, San Sebastian, Hermigua, Vallehermoso, Valle Gran Rey and Playa Santiago.

And that’s what we mean when we say: A Cup of Happiness.
